Schools update Autumn 2017
‘Spirituality Safari’, a second catalyst enrichment day was jointly hosted at Launton C of E Primary School in June. Children and adults enjoyed exploring spirituality through a carousel of carefully planned creative workshops run by Parable Garden team members, artists, teachers and parents. These included creating a life-sized sculpture of a sheep, wonder walking, labyrinth, making tiles for a composite tree of life clay relief, stencil panels from children’s stencils, natural sand sculptures. Several visitors from the local community joined us, including clergy and Bishop Colin of Dorchester.
‘Into the Garden, Collective Worship Resources’ and materials to encourage children’s spiritual awareness are ready for publishing. We are approaching different publishers as well as seeking funding, linked to the Diocese of Oxford, to further the enrichment work with schools.
Parable Garden’s Partnership Enrichment for schools is the focus of a chapter in a new book to be published in 2018 on creativity in Primary schools. Look out for it in the spring on the website.
